Mr. Yasser Hashem has graduated from the Deutsche Evangelische Oberschule (DEO), (German School). He achieved his LL.B. from the Faculty of Law, Cairo University, in 1989 and has attended several courses at the American University in Cairo, in 1980.
Mr. Hashem is the Managing Partner of ZH&P since 1996 before which he has been a Partner at ZH&P from 1989 to 1996. He manages a portfolio of more than 100 clients from different jurisdictions. He is heavily involved in advising of a large number of multi-national clients. Mr. Hashem played a major role in the privatization of public sector entities in Egypt. Since joining the Firm, Mr. Hashem focused on the area of corporate law, he was involved in hundreds of restructurings, incorporations of foreign and domestic companies and advising foreign and local investors on the most efficient vehicles and structures for implementing their investment in Egypt as well as continuing to provide the clients with advice on all aspects of doing business in Egypt. In the M&A and Capital Markets experience, he handled most of the IPO’s in Egypt in the last seven years and represented the acquirer in all major tender offers and M&A transactions in Egypt. In the field of telecommunications service, since inception of the private provision of telecom services in Egypt, Mr. Hashem has been involved in the drafting and negotiation of all major telecom licenses, starting with the public payphones, to the mobile, the private data networks, the marine cable, satellite, etc. licenses. His expertise in the telecom field led to his appointment by Ministerial Decree as a member of the new telecommunications Act Drafting Committee. Mr. Hashem’s dedication and wide range of contracts greatly contributed to the growth of the Firm capabilities, while maintaining its standards of excellence.
Mr. Hashem was admitted before the Egyptian Court of Cassation in 2007. He is also a member of the Egyptian Society of International Law and the Licensing Executive Society (“LES”).
Mr. Hashem is fluent in Arabic, English, German and French.
